About Me
A BACP trained and registered therapist, I believe therapy is about building a relationship based on trust, warmth, safety and acceptance and by having this dedicated space in which to focus on your inner world it can alleviate pressure in other areas of your life. I understand that opening up about upsetting or troubling thoughts, feelings, or memories may initially feel unusual or difficult; but I assure you I am here to support and guide you through the process with genuine care and attention. I work relationally so I am very much myself in session and will work with you to find answers collaboratively rather than the silent or aloof nodding kind of therapy that once was.
I am a Humanistic integrative therapist meaning I draw upon a range of approaches including Person Centred, relational and psychodynamic; we may revisit difficult life events to help you process them in a safe and confidential environment, break down any unhelpful patterns in relating, and gain a greater insight into what you want from life.
I first became inspired to become a counsellor through understanding and healing from my own personal trauma and have previously worked within the NHS and mental health charities.
I am a specialist in working with clients that need support with difficult or traumatic childhoods, victims of dismissive, abusive or distant parenting and attachment issues within relationships.
I have experience with a broad range of issues with extensive experience working with trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, abuse, relationships, work related issues, sexuality, sexual issues, polyamory, woman’s issues and stress management. In my spare time I am passionate about holistic health and spiritual wellness and integrate this into my approach if requested.
I hope through our work together you will gain a sense of well being, deeper enjoyment and better understanding of what you want from life.
“To understand and be understood, those are among life's greatest gifts, and every interaction is an opportunity to exchange them.”
